Principal’s Welcome

St Mary’s Primary School, Warners Bay is a systemic Catholic school in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, situated in the Parish of Boolaroo and Warners Bay.

It is a safe, welcoming and caring environment where students are encouraged to become lifelong learners and discerning individuals able to use their knowledge and skills for their own good and for the good of society.

The parish and school are one closely linked Catholic community and acknowledge the importance of this relationship. Our daily actions and interactions are a reflection of our role model and teacher, Jesus Christ. Our Catholic faith is fostered within the community through meaningful liturgy, prayer, symbols and rituals. As a school, we gather with the parish community to celebrate the Eucharist throughout the year, as well as through daily prayer and weekly reflections on the Gospel.

St Mary’s strives to develop a love of learning in every child by encouraging students to value the opportunities made available to them by providing high quality and challenging educational activities that enable students to achieve to their full potential. The school encourages all students to strive for academic excellence in all Key Learning Areas and pursue interests in a range of co-curricular activities. We utilise technology as a learning tool and students in Years 5 and 6 use one-to-one digital learning devices.

St Mary’s challenges every student in a supportive learning environment and values each student’s different abilities. A wide range of support is provided for students who need assistance with learning academically and socially, and academic strengths are challenged during classroom learning along with enrichment activities including science and engineering challenges, Maths Olympiad and The da Vinci Decathlon.

The school strongly believes in the importance of the wellbeing of students, parents, staff and community with a focus on the You Can Do It! Program under the framework of Be You. We wish to develop confident students with high self-esteem, respect and dignity, and we are firmly committed to working in partnership with parents and carers. The school celebrates Wellbeing Week each term and maintains a continual focus on wellbeing and mindfulness in all aspects of school life throughout the year.

St Mary’s offers many opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and to grow as confident individuals. The school gives students a well-balanced education through participation in a myriad of extra-curricular initiatives which allow each individual to expand their interests and skills. All students are taught Music by a specialist teacher and students have the opportunity to join a number of musical groups including the rock band, concert band, choir, folk group and guitar group.
