Student Leadership

St Mary’s offers a diverse range of leadership opportunities for all students that includes joining leadership teams and participating in leadership programs. All Year 6 students are considered role models and leaders at St Mary’s, particularly to their Kinder buddy.

School Leaders, Sports House Leaders, Sustainability Leaders and Mini Vinnies Leaders are elected by their peers and teachers to these positions.

SCHOOL LEADERS

School Leaders are positive role models for other students. They act with care, courtesy and treat others fairly. School Leaders lead and assist with whole school assemblies and liturgies, lead school tours, provide suggestions with school initiatives and represent the school at Diocesan events.

SPORT HOUSE LEADERS

Sport House Leaders are sports leaders who assist to organise their sporting house, organise sports equipment and build positive team spirit, attitudes and efforts. We have two Sports Leaders for each house. The house teams include Bethlehem, Cana, Galilee and Jordan.

SUSTAINABILITY LEADERS

Our Sustainability Leaders lead sustainability and environmental initiatives. The Sustainability Leaders are involved in the following tasks/projects:

Clean Up Schools Day

Schools Tree Day

Earth Hour

Reducing waste of resources (recycling paper, batteries, mobile phones etc.)

Maintaining and beautifying the school environment

MINI VINNIES LEADERS AND TEAM

Mini Vinnies empowers primary school students to become advocates within their school and local community by putting their Gospel values into action. They meet regularly with teachers to learn about social justice issues, develop leadership skills and engage with the wider St Vincent de Paul Society. The Mini Vinnies Team are involved in the following tasks/projects:

  • Winter Appeal
  • Christmas Appeal
  • Project Compassion
  • Catholic Mission
